VinylPlus 2030: New Commitment Launched

VinylPlus 2030, the European PVC industry’s next commitment to sustainable development for the next ten years, was launched Mid-June at the VinylPlus Sustainability Forum (VSF). It builds on more than 20 years of progress and achievements in the European PVC value chain. With the renewed commitment, VinylPlus® aims to proactively contribute to addressing global sustainability challenges and priorities.

The VinylPlus 2030 Commitment was developed in a bottom-up approach through industry workshops and an open consultation process with stakeholders. Three ‚pathways‘ and 12 ‚action areas and targets‘ have been identified, covering the circularity of the PVC value chain, its progress towards carbon neutrality, minimising the environmental footprint of PVC production and products, and its engagement with stakeholders and global coalitions.

All targets will be subject to a mid-term review in 2025 to take into account technological progress and the evolution of the socio-economic, regulatory and environmental framework.

The VinylPlus Sustainability Forum 2021 was reported to have attracted more than 530 participants from 44 countries. You can download the executive summary of the new Commitment from our website.
